Old Guys Old Car Club
This month's feature image was taken on June 23, 1952, in Kirkwood, Missouri, at the
Kirkwood Theatre. The Movie House was one of the stops on the “Will Rogers Caravan,”
promoting the new movie “The Will Rogers Story” and rededicating Route 66 as the Will Rogers Highway.
The Caravan began next to the Chain of Rocks Bridge where it crosses the Mississippi River at St Louis.
It was followed by ceremonies on the state lines of Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona,
ending at Palisades Park in Santa Monica, California. The Highway 66 Association, Warner Brothers Film
Studio, Ford Motor Company, and Rt 66 Associations from those eight states organized the Caravan.
